At Saida Career Days’10, you will have the opportunity to meet and make an impression on many prospective employers in a short period of time.
Our Career Days provides excellent opportunities to network with employers in your industry of choice, and taking the time to prepare properly greatly enhances your chances of landing an interview or a job offer.
Here are some simple thoughts to guide you:

Before the Career Days

1Plan to wear a professional outfitfirst impressions are
     critical and lasting

o Wear something that is not too casual and not too formal.
o Do not wear jeans, t-shirts, wrinkled clothes, sneakers or
        hats.
o Employers strongly discourage mini skirts, sleeveless tops,
low cut or tight fitting shirts.

2Prepare plenty of copies of your resume

o Have an attractive resume on good quality paper, using bold,
underline, and bullets; we strongly suggest you use white or
        other neutral-color paper.
o Check carefully for typos, spelling and grammar errors.
o Make sure that the printing and the copying are of good
quality. You need to hand them over personally to the HR
representatives. You want to make a good impression.
o Keep them in a folder or portfolio at the event.  Do not
bring them to the career day on a disk.

3Familiarize yourself with the employers

o Decide which employers you want to speak with and prioritize
       them.
o Research, research, research – a list of participating employers
       is available on our website.
o Go online and look at their profiles. You may need the
information when you sit down and talk to their respective
       HR representatives.

4.  Prepare a list of questions to ask the employers you're
     interested   in.

It is common for informal interviews to take place on the spot
at a career fair. Interviews are not a one-sided affair, and
having questions to ask prospective employers will make them
more confident that you're interested in working for their
   company.

5.  Market yourself

o Rehearse a personal introduction that allows you to sell your
skills and make a good impression in a short period of
        time.
Tailor it to each of the companies on your list to include specific
information about the company and how you see yourself fitting
       in there.
o Rehearse answering some interview questions. Think about the
things your possible employers may throw in once they meet you.
Although meeting them at the career day fair doesn’t guarantee
a formal interview, you may as well strive to give your best
       shot.
They may also ask you to tell more about yourself. Organize your
ideas. Think of a creative way to profile yourself. Try to say
       something memorable.

At the Career Days

1 Come early in the day – employers are at their peak and there is
     less competition

o Bring a pen, folder or portfolio for your resumes, and
         perhaps a pad of paper.
o Carry as little as possible (no coats or backpacks, etc.).
o Turn off cell phones in the employer areas.

2Approach employer representatives with confidence

o Introduce yourself, make good eye contact, and offer a
         firm handshake.
o Give the recruiter your resume and tell him/her about
         yourself and your career interests.
o Ask questions about job openings/descriptions, the
        organization, application procedures, etc.
o Collect business cards and employer literature.

3.  Speak with as many employers as possible

Visit your top choices first.  Avoid standing in a long line to
speak with one recruiter when you could talk with 3 or 4 others
    in the same time period.

After the Career Days

Send a thank you letter or email message, restating your interest,
to those employers in which you are particularly interested.Include
a copy of your resume.  Since most candidates will not follow up
with employers after the career day, this will make you stand out.
